What Causes Acne?
One of the most common skin problems which is quite difficult to remedy would be acne. It does not only cause a person to have a skin that looks bad but it also affects the self confidence and the ability of the person to socialize with other people. In order for us to have an idea of how to get rid of acne, we must first identify what causes acne in a person.
According to medical literature, there are three internal factors present in an individual which are what causes acne to occur. The first one is the excessive production of oil or sebum in the skin which comes from the sebaceous glands that are distributed all over the hair and the skin in order to lubricate and provide additional protection to the skin. The other reasons would be shedding of the dead skin cells in an irregular frequency and bacteria building up on the skin.
These three things cause acne to occur, and most of the time, all of them are present in an individual who is suffering from acne. The cycle begins when the excess oil and dead skin cells are both not removed on the skin and causes them to adhere to each other. This would lead to the opening of the hair follicles being occluded by the soft plug made of sebum and dead cells, and this provides an environment that allows buildup of bacteria.
The presence of these foreign objects that block the opening of the hair follicles where the sebum is also released causes the area to bulge and what may appear as a whitehead or blackhead depending on whether the area darkens or not. If the clog is not removed, it may become infected and inflamed causing breakouts or pimples. Acne would then be the condition characterized by the skin being frequently ridden of pimples.
Aside from understanding the causes of acne, it is also important to understand what causes acne to become worse in an individual. The most common factor that aggravates the presence of acne is the level of hormones in the body that is why; it is more often for girls to experience acne before and after their menstrual periods where there is fluctuation and decline of the levels of hormones in the body. The production of sebum is actually influenced by the changes in the amount of hormones in the body.
The consumption of fatty foods appears to be irrespective when it comes to what actually triggers acne to appear, but it can cause acne to worsen in most people. Young people tend to prefer foods rich in carbohydrate such as chips and bagels that also contain lots of sugar and salt which tends to stimulate pimple formation.
The truth of the matter is nobody knows exactly what causes acne. The above explanation is true in as far as telling us what environment makes the perfect breeding ground for acne spots and is only accountable for less than 40% of acne cases. The real cause of acne is not skin deep and is far more difficult to treat if you do not know what you are looking for.
This is why creams and ointments do not work for the vast majority of sufferers and a treatment guide is the best option if you want to know how to get rid of acne and have complete acne relief.
